Mindfulness and wellness activities don't have to be too long, but over time you'll learn that you want to spend more time with wellness activities, especially if you are doing something you enjoy. While I know most students are spending their time preparing for their next test, finishing homework, or working on extra curriculars, they can improve their work style by practicing mindfulness, to improve their overall health.

In a study by Kanagy-Borofka (2013), students from an elementary school (ages 9-12) spent some of their class time engaged with mindfulness activities. The findings from the study indicated that those who practiced mindfulness were more focused and engaged in doing their work. Being more focused and engaged in your work can lead to other benefits as well, and researchers claim that self-healing activities can improve students' grades, reduce mental stress, and increase focus in the workspace.

There are actually several factors you should consider before starting your self-healing journey. The first of which is to think about your end goal. How do you want to feel by the end of this journey? How will that improve/help your mental health and lifestyle? How will you reach this goal?

To answer the first question, think about how you are feeling at this moment. Are you angry? Disappointed? Sad? Happy? Write down these ideas in a notebook where you can look back at them at the end of your journey. Now look at these emotions, and write down how you want to improve or how you want to continue to feel.

To answer the second question, look at the list of emotions/feelings you want to achieve and think about how these will impact your way of living. Can you picture yourself with a smile?

Lastly, to answer the third question, you have to consider all the angles and how you can improve yourself.

It is important to learn how to advocate for yourself which puts an emphasis on understanding your personal needs. If you need to improve your mental health, you should be able to understand that and take action.

Along with this, grow your self-esteem, since we are all very special and wonderful people. This can include doing activities that make you feel better, or that you are good at!
